Our skin tightening laser is comprised of infrared light and radio frequency created for non-surgical skin tightening. It rebuilds the collagen in the skin by using the heat from infrared, and energy from radio-frequency. This bi-polar technology (IR and RF) is able to penetrate beyond the dermal layers of the skin down deep into the collagen and promote new collagen production.
The skin tightening laser rebuilds and creates new collagen. It is not required, but strongly recommended to receive a Photofacial series prior to skin tightening a client receives optimum collagen production and skin tightening. This is because the Photofacial removes all sun damage in the skin and leaves behind new healthy rejuvenated skin. Healthy and sun-damage free skin enables the energy and heat from the skin tightening laser to penetrate the target endpoint (collagen) more effectively and efficiently.
How it Works:
The heat (infrared) and energy (radio frequency) from the laser have set wavelengths that target collagen on the deepest level possible. Radio Frequency provides an electro-magnetic energy to the skin and collagen, and the infrared delivers an intense heat to the deeper layers of the skin and existing collagen. Anytime there is a specific amount of heat and energy penetrating the deep layers of the skin, the body automatically goes into a “fix it/ replenishment mode”. This is because the heat, in essence, is denaturing (breaking down and metabolizing) the existing old collagen, automatically promoting the body to replenish with new collagen.
What to expect:
There is absolutely no downtime with the skin tightening. The skin tightening laser is also “color-blind” and therefore, all skin types I-VI can be treated with the skin tightening laser. There will be a slight tingle sensation when the procedure is targeting the collagen, but extremely tolerable.
Immediately after the Refirm, the skin will appear to have a “shrink wrap” effect, i.e. there will be swelling and redness (edema and erythema) which causes the skin to retract and instantly tighten the skin. However, that initial tightening will subside and the skin will return within 2-4 days. Although the skin superficially “returns” to its normal state, the heat is still actively rebuilding that collagen from the bottom-up. Therefore, a series of treatments are highly recommended to rebuild ideal collagen.
Treatment Protocol:
3-5 treatments are recommended in conjunction with the Photofacial. If patients have already received five photofacials, but lose skin is still a concern, a series of 3-5 is strongly encouraged, depending on the amount of lax skin.
Skin Tightening is recommended once every 4-6 weeks
The Refirm treats three zones for skin tightening: upper, middle and lower.
- Upper - From the nose up
- Middle - From the nose to the mouth
- Lower - mouth to jaw line
- Neck - is treated separately
How Long Will It Last?
Results will vary per client. For these reasons, we recommend clients have touchup treatments every 6 months to maintain results.
Factors that will reduce the longevity of the results are:
- Sun Exposure
- Lifestyle, i.e. eating habits, drinking, smoking, etc.
- Genetics
- Age
- Gender
